With three games left in May the Rocks currently stand at 36-13 after going 21-4 in May. The Rocks have almost double their offensive "production" from April averaging 6 run a game. While a large part of the Rocks' poor offensive performance in April was just bad luck (.221 babip) May's turn around has been because several players incredible performances.
The Home Run Leader
Roy Patrick had a break out season in 2027 in which he had career highs in WAR, avg, obp, walks and career low in strikeouts. Now that we are in 2028 Patrick is out to prove that he is the real deal. Patrick current leads all of BSA with 17 home runs and is on pace for a .300, 100 runs, 100 rbis, 50 hr and 20 SB season.
The 30/30 Duo
Both of these guys have had their own kind of success since being called up to the big league but 2028 seems to be the season where Barrett Waters and Andres Lara finally live up to their potentials. Both Waters and Lara are currently on paces that will see them exceed avgerages over .280 with 30+ home runs and stolen bases while scoring 75 runs and over 100 rbis. While offense once seemed like a soft spot for the Rocks it appears it could be quickly turning into a strength.
1-2-3
While the offense in May is the biggest talking point for the Rocks it is only because they were lacking in April. The 1-2-3 punch of Martinez, Smeddon and Moran were just as good if not better than the Rocks offense. In May 1-2-3 combined for a 11-0 record over 92.1 innings giving up only 13 earned runs, striking out 78 and walking 14.
3-2-1
While the front of the rotation is self proclaimed "1-2-3" the back half of the bullpen now calls themselves "3-2-1." These names are about as hot as Romphims right now. Gonzales, McIntosh and Garcia combined for a 4-0 record, 7 saves, 10 holds over 36.2 innings while striking out 43, walking 7 and only giving up 4 earned runs.
Rocks' brass knew that the odds of repeating April was highly unlikely unless the offense remembered how to hit. Since we rediscovered that talent the Rocks have rolled through May making the thoughts of another title feel real again.
