NSH May PR: Look At Me Now: Catching Up With Last Season's Top 10

With the draft about to kick off, let's catch up with last year's top 10 picks and see how they are faring so far.

1. SP Luis Castillo, NSH
2027: R 10 GS, 0-5, 4.60 ERA, 1.32 WHIP
2028: A: 9 GS, 2-3, 4.26 ERA, 1.40 WHIP
While not off to the stellar start that some expected, Castillo looks like a future big league starter. He needs to get his walks down and his strikeouts up however.

2. SP Josh Ewing, SNF
2028: COL: 12 GS, 7-1, 0.38 ERA, 0.63 WHIP
After not signing, Ewing went back to Texas A&M and turned in the best season of his career, which included a no hitter. He should be a high pick in the draft again, despite a sprained ankle injury.

3. SP Gary Fox, MAU
2027: A: 14 GS, 1-4, 4.55 ERA, 1.78 WHIP
2028: A: 10 GS, 1-5, 6.96 ERA, 2.04 WHIP
Fox has maintained his ability to get strikeouts, but is struggling with control. Too many walks and not enough bad contact, he's just letting too many guys reach base.

4. SS Augusto Padilla, ORL
2027: R: 64 GS,.274/.328/.414, 4 HR, 26 RBI
2028: A: 7 GS, .345/.424/.414, 0 HR, 3 RBI
2028: AA: 26 GS, .289/.330/.467, 4 HR, 20 RBI
Padilla shined in his rookie league debut and after starting this season in A ball he is quickly ascending the ranks. He has backed up relatively average hitting with stellar defensive play.

5. 2B Edgar Lopez, AUS
2027: A: 19 GS, .193/.292/.404, 3 HR, 6 RBI
2028: A: 3 GS, .417/.500/.583, 0 HR, 2 RBI
2028: AA: 0 GS, .500/.500/.500, 0 HR, 2 RBI
After struggling in his first professional season, Lopez got off to a hot start this season and recently earned a promotion to AA in a reserve role.

6. SP Keith Hill, KCK
2027: A: 14 GS, 4-5, 4.02 ERA, 1.45 WHIP
2028: A: 11 GS, 2-6, 7.40 ERA, 1.71 WHIP
Hill had a respectable debut pro season but has struggled this season so far.

7. 3B Paco Cordova, BOS
2027: R: 45 GS, .282/.370/.405, 5 HR, 22 RBI
2027: A: 21 GS, .167/.291/.227, 1 HR 7 RBI
2028: A: 50 GS, .306/.398/.486, 4 HR, 27 RBI
After a good rookie debut, Cordova struggled in his callup A ball. His 2028 campaign has been very strong though, showing just the kind of hitter he can be in the BSA.

8. 2B Armando Garcia, CHI
2028: COL: 50 GS, .302/.375/.576, 11 HR, 39 RBI
Garcia failed to sign with Chicago and returned to Kansas State. While many expected him to improve upon last season, he failed to do so, and will likely see a steep decline in draft position.

9. 3B Mathew Clayton, BIR
2027: R: 41 GS, .192/.234/.262, 0 HR, 9 RBI
Clayton still looks like a future big leaguer after struggling in his first pro season, as the teenager awaits to spend another year developing his skills with the rookie team in 2028.

10. SP Cesar Galvan, KCK
2027: A: 15 GS, 3-9, 4.86 ERA, 1.31 WHIP
2028: A: 10 GS, 0-4, 7.36 ERA, 2.07 WHIP
Like his teammate Hill, Galvan is also struggling to keep batters off of the base paths.
