Rookie Ball Highlights:
Alonso Mendoza (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/12227#dash)
Mendoza was a kid we got from Irvine in the deal that sent Santiago Gonzalez to Irvine last year. Since then, Mendoza has impressed me a ton. Not only have his ratings continued to climb on their own - but his performance in Rookie ball has been brilliant.
He's only 19 years old, so lots of developing to do. 33 strikeouts and 2 walks in 22 innings is a nice start though.
He's probably my favorite prospect because A) he came from Irvine B) His velocity went up like three times since I acquired him and C) He just looks straight up nasty
Harry Robinson (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/16592#dash)
Robinson was my first round pick this year. I am still kind of floored he fell down to #15, and thus far he has not disappointed me at all. 3-0 with 23K, 2 BB and 27.2 innings of work. That's a terrific pro debut!
Harvey Taylor (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/16604#dash)
My 5th round selection, Taylor has done pretty well thus far. I think his third pitch will need work but he's hanging in there in his 4 starts thus far.
Paul McGowan (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/16126#dash)
My 4th rounder, he's been the closer for our Rookie Ball team and has done quite well in that role so far. I didn't draft him as a closer, but because we have so many arms cycling in and out of the rotation - I took the Manager's recommendation on slotting him there.
Single A highlights:
Danny Clayton (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/15336#dash)
Last year's 2nd round pick, he's had a slight uptick in his BB rate but his strikeout rate has also gone up. Nice to see that in spite of a higher BABIP in A ball compared to R ball last year, he's giving up fewer homeruns and fewer runs altogether.
Kade Brown (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/15288#pitch)
Last year's 3rd rounder. Very similar results to Clayton. His K rate increased, his BB slightly increased and his HR allowed rate has dramatically decreased. His BABIP though is hurting him much more than Clayton's is.
Jeremiah Moran (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/15192#dash)
Last year's 1st rounder. He's working primarily out of the bullpen in Single A now. Until he further develops his repertoire, that will be his role. He's cut his Single A ERA in half from last year.
Micheal Banks (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/758#dash)
Acquired from Boston last year during the season in a trade. Banks is having his best year as a professional by far. Hoping he can build off this campaign into next year when we might need him in AA.
Double A Highlights:
Sloan Sanders (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/5454#pitch)
Sanders was acquired from Vista this year in a trade. I think he's shown better numbers in AA than I frankly expected right off the bat. He's got a huge repertoire of pitches, and if he can get his control under wraps - he might end up being a steal.
Juan Estrada (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/14411#dash)
Estrada was the guy that got zero playing time in Single A last year thanks to my coach being a dick. But I gave him a shot in AA since he was pissed and he's done nothing but impress at age 22.
Pablo Diaz (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/7256#dash)
Diaz was an IFA that Greenville traded to me in the Duran deal last year. He's off to a great pro start thus far. At age 22 he's got a tremendous .421 OBP in AA and has shown significant improvement from last year's A ball season.
Triple A Highlights:
Miguel Galvan (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/7218#dash)
Galvan was acquired from So Cal last year in the Burgess/Okada deal. Galvan has been very good in AAA and while he might be ready for the big leagues, I may hold him back for the rest of the year just to let him finish an entire season in AAA with minimal expectations.
David Taylor (https://statsplus.net/bsa/ player/11671#pitch)
Taylor has been a nice surprise in AAA this year. He isn't really meant to be a starter in my eyes long-term, but he's had some nice success there this year. I believe he will be called up at some point this year, but for bullpen use only.
