July 2028 New York PR

New York Knights Press Release:  31 July 2028

The Knights entered July in bad shape and ended with a trade of perennial ace Hong-ryul Yun.  The trade brought New York catcher Felipe Rodriguez, third baseman Vic Langlois, pitcher Sancho Mendoza, Henny van der Lack, and former New York closer Paco Ruiz who will notch his 300th career save this year.  The Knights also sent pitcher David Bishop to Greenville to complete the trade.  Team officials issued a statement praising the deal for bringing in young players to fill weak spots in the organization.  The fans were disappointed to see Yun which the Knights understand, Yun a two-time twenty game winner had established himself as the best pitcher in club history.  The return of Ruiz adds an established closer to the team and should strengthen the teams late inning struggles.

July showed some improvement for the club as it posted its most successful month of the season, unfortunately the team could not break even posting a record of 12 wins and 14 losses.  Leo Huggins had a strong month posting a 1.84 ERA and picking up 2 wins in 14 relief innings.  Huggins was the only bright spot in the bullpen as closer Juan Ortiz struggled with a 6.75 ERA and made the pickup of Ruiz all the more important.

July saw the continued strong play of Pepe Carrasco as the veteran hit at a .305 clip with an OPS of .823.  Warren Potter hit .349 bringing his season average to .339 while provided the team with excellent defense in the outfield.  Marvin Harris has slugged over .500 in June and July and has rescued what appeared to be a lost season, hitting his 20th homer of the season during July.

With the season coming to an end General Manager Terrance Carlsson hopes the new additions to the team will improve team chemistry as all the incoming players are all character plusses on a team where chemistry was lacking.  With new manager McVean solidifying his position with a record of 7 wins and 6 losses the team hopes his fiery temperament will bring out the best in his players.
