Houston PR: Season in Review and Target 2031

Winning and Losing

Houston's primary goal for the 2028 season was to be around a .500 team. We got close with a 79-83 record. It was a rough month of June (7-20) that did in the entire season. It was the one month that GM Michael Carroll turned over the team to the rest of the management staff. "That's the last time I do that", said the Houston GM.

The Marshals actually finished the season well:
July: 16-9
Aug: 17-11
Sept: 17-11
Oct: 0-1
That's a record of 50-32 (.609) in the back half of the season.
The Financials
Strapped with expensive older players that nobody in their right mind would trade for, the Marshals suffered a $52M loss in 2028. The owner was sure to pay back GM Carroll for his efforts, by dropping his 2029 budget by $30M..."That'll help us get back on track", said Carroll sarcastically.

Fortunately, Carroll will be moving about $53M off of the payroll via Team Options and Arbitration releases this off-season. "We'll be promoting a lot of our current AAA players to help us get through the 2029 season, and we have a lot of talent at the lower minor league levels. A little more patience is in order, but we're getting close."

Target 2031

The GM is predicting a $30M surplus by the end of the 2030 season, and a very high Minor League system. "Our lower Minors are very deep in my opinion, and it'll probably be 2031 by the time all of those kids are ready. Until then, we'll be fielding what will amount to, a 4A team in the BSA.". That's the Marshal's prediction...that 2031 will be the year that they become a threat once again at the top of the standing.

Thank You,

Michael Carroll
