Nevada Noise May PR - Checking in on Branda's Kids

The big league club is sinking a little bit, they are quite frankly playing roughly what I expected. They will hover around .500, hit low points - and might climb back up every now and then.

Catcher Julian Madrid continues to build on his Hall of Fame resume with a .913 OPS.

2B Stephen Wilson is having a very good year at the plate with a .853 OPS.

OF Edward Young is having a very nice bounce back season, currently hitting .844 OPS.

OF Stanley Mullins, like Young has bounced back from a rough year last year. He dealt with a small injury but is expected to return tonight. In his 23 games he has a .894 OPS.

All four of these players are available for trade. If you're interested, lets talk!

AAA Kids:

The Unicorns are 32-19 this year, having a very nice year so far.

2B Fernando Galvez - Acquired last year from So Cal, having a great year in AAA. He was probably not ready for the bigs at such a young age. He might be held back for the rest of the year, unless Wilson gets dealt. He's got a .959 OPS and playing ab above average defense.

3B Gustavo Rodriguez - At 24, he's having a great year in AAA so far. He's got a .826 OPS and is playing an improved 3B.

SP Miguel Galvan - 22 year old LHP. Galvan is having a pretty solid year in AAA. His J/9 is 12.2, and he's 6-1 with a 2.70 ERA

SP Jose Mercado - At 24 years old, Mercado might get called up soon because his numbers aren't attractive but his BABIP is ridiculous at .375. We might give him a chance to have a better defense if I need an arm.

P David Taylor - He's having a decent year in his first AAA attempt. He is 5-3 with a 4.89 ERA, but again a pretty high BABIP. His K/BB is pretty solid and he might be a pitcher to keep an eye on for next year's roster.

AA Kids:

The Amish are struggling as a team, but there are some bright spots with key kids that we are really focused on

1B Jose Velazquez - He's 24, probably should be in AAA but due to our big league 1B situation the AAA squad is essentially a big league taxi squad right now. He's got a .893 OPS in 35 AA games. He was in AAA briefly but struggled, a little early on so I put him back in AA where I knew he would start and be happy with his role.

3B Juan Estrada - Very pleased with Estrada thus far. Last year he must have pissed off our minor league coach as well as KC's because he couldn't get into a game for some reason. Now, at 22 he's technically gone from Rookie Ball to AA and done quite well with a .846 OPS thus far and very solid defense.

3B Caleb Hall - Hall like Estrada is doing very well, but he's two years older. I'm going to look at AAA for him in the next week or so.

OF Pablo Diaz - Acquired from Greenville, the 22 year old OF is in his first AA season and currently has a .932 OPS. He's got more walks than K which is something I always love to see. He's also playing a very solid RF.

P Errol Murphy - He's 22, and while his 10 starts 4.70 ERA isn't exactly awesome... it's actually a huge improvement over how he looked when we first acquired him. He just has to keep at it.

P Rafael Sanchez - In his first AA season he's pitched 52 innings, with a 3.63 ERA in spite of a .331 BABIP. His 42 K to 12 BB is pretty solid.

A Kids:

The Grim Reapers are off to a 23-29 start, not very good. But again like the AA squad, this is really about developing some key talent.

1B Micheal Banks - The 22 year old is having a nice year in A ball with a .806 OPS.

OF Jesus Rojas - Coming off a .723 Rookie Ball season, the 19 year old IFA from last year is odd a solid .862 OPS start.

P Kade Brown - Brown is 3-2 in 10 starts with a 4.38 ERA with 60K and 22 walks in 49 innings.

P Will Brown - In 18 games, he's got a 1.31 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP

P Danny Clayton - Last year's round 2 pick, he is 4-2 with a 3.33 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP

Side note:

I noticed many of my top kids are unhappy due to chemistry issues. So I'll be cutting some minor leaguers in spite of their performance if they are not part of the bigger picture.

Also, my work life slows down around Father's Day. Hope to jump back into the fray a bit more after that!
